BJP leaders in Madhya Pradesh lodged a complaint against Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi and others in Indore and Bhopal over a social media post where Gandhi, quoting a report, said that 50% commission is being charged from contractors in Madhya Pradesh.

"A fake letter bearing the name of a person called Gyanendra Awasthi was circulated on social media. Based on a complaint, an FIR has been filed against Twitter handles of Priyanka Gandhi, Kamal Nath and Arun Yadav," Indore Police Commissioner Makrand Deuskar told media persons in Indore. The complaint has been filed by a BJP worker Nimesh Pathak. A similar complaint has also been filed by others BJP workers in Bhopal.

"The Congress has crossed all the limits in spreading falsehood and lies. Their leaders tried to defame the state government by making a false letter viral. I am surprised senior leaders like Priyanka Gandhi, Jairam Ramesh, Kamal Nath and others tweeted without ascertaining the veracity of the letter," MP BJP president VD Sharma told ET. "We have responded by filing an FIR against the Congress leaders. Spreading lies won't be tolerated by BJP workers in Madhya Pradesh."

Priyanka Gandhi posted on 'X' (Twitter) that a union of contractors from Madhya Pradesh has written a letter to the Chief Justice of the High Court, complaining that their payment was released only after 50% commission was paid. The letter was claimed to be written by one Gyanendra Awasthi.

With Priyanka Gandhi posting it on social media, other party leaders like Kamal Nath and Arun Yadav also followed suit.
