BJP eyes more hands via social media
Delhi BJP will launch a massive social media campaign ahead of the assembly elections and hopes to double its followers.

On Saturday, Ashwini Upadhyay, former Aam Aadmi Party member who had recently joined BJP, was made in-charge of the social media campaign. "Our aim is to reach out to a large number of people, especially youth. We have set 25 lakh followers as our target," said Upadhyay who held a meeting of BJP workers on Saturday. The party also plans to start groups on social messaging applica tions like WhatsApp.
BJP has 5,000-odd active members in the capital and the party plans to open a Facebook account for each one of them. "Each has to bring in 1,000 more members on Facebook in a month. Even those who have an account at present have been told to add 1,000 followers. All workers will have common photos of our top brass as profile pictures," said Upadhyay.
All workers have been directed to form WhatsApp groups of 10 members. BJP functionaries say this will help circulate important announcements, messages and details of its programmes. "In a month, we will form a strong group of 25 lakh people through social networking sites," said Upadhyay.
