BJP expresses shock over death of over 100 pilgrims

BJP on Sunday expressed its shock over the death of more than 100 pilgrims in a stampede at the Naina Devi temple in Bilaspur district of Himachal Pradesh and conveyed its condolences to the members of the bereaved families.

NEW DELHI: BJP on Sunday expressed its shock over the death of more than 100 pilgrims in a stampede at the Naina Devi temple in Bilaspur district of Himachal Pradesh and conveyed its condolences to the members of the bereaved families.

"I am deeply saddened to learn about the tragic death of over 100 pilgrims. I convey my deep felt condolences to the family members of all those who have lost their lives or have been injured in the incident," party president Rajnath Singh said in a statement.

Singh also spoke to state Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal, who assured all necessary steps to assuage the suffering of those affected in the tragedy.

One hundred and thirty pilgrims were killed today in a stampede at a temple located in Bilaspur district, about 160 kms from Shimla in Himachal Pradesh
