BJP expects to sweep MCD polls
With two exit polls declaring a landslide victory for the BJP across the three municipal corporations, the BJP continues to remain the front runner.

Tightly pitched between the incumbent BJP, which is looking at clinching a victory in the polls riding on its recent success in the Uttar Pradesh and Uttrakhand polls, the AAP that had swept the Assembly polls in 2015 and the Congress, which is looking at re-claiming its lost ground since it was rooted out from the city’s politics in 2015, the results of the municipal polls are billed to have a major impact on the capital’s politics ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections and the Assembly elections that will be held in the subsequent year.
With two exit polls declaring a landslide victory for the BJP across the three municipal corporations, the BJP continues to remain the front runner in these polls despite allegations of inefficiency and corruption in it’s 10-year rule over the civic body. Both polls have placed AAP and Congress, scrambling for a second spot and far behind the BJP. Counting is expected to take place across 35 centres in the city from 8 am and the results will be declared for 270 municipal wards.
Voting for two wards- Maujpur and Sarai Pipal Thalawas postponed for the next month after deaths of two Samajwadi Party candidates-one from each- were reported last week.
