PATNA: A day after RJD chief and former chief minister Lalu Prasad dared the Narendra Modi government to implement RSS boss Mohan Bhagwat's 'suggestion of a review' of the reservation policy in the country, chief minister Nitish Kumar said Bhagwat's statement had exposed the real face of BJP. He termed the BJP as "a political organisation of the RSS". He also claimed that the BJP was distancing from the remarks of its ideological mentor Bhagwat in view of the Bihar assembly polls.

"BJP is supposed to implement the ideologies of the RSS," Kumar told reporters in Patna on Tuesday. Nitish also recalled the RSS' recent meeting where top Union ministers and BJP leaders had visited in New Delhi. However, BJP can't implement RSS' suggestion in this case, he said. The reservation policy is as per the Constitution, he said and added that BJP has no role in its framing or the Independence movement.

RJD chief Lalu Prasad reiterated his Monday's statement, daring the Narendra Modi government to implement Bhagwat's suggestion. "If you have drunk your mother's (Mai Ka doodh), then have it scrapped," Prasad had said on Twitter.

BJP's ally, and former chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi said that he favoured a review of the reservation policy. "Bhagwatji is suggesting for review of the reservation policy and not for stopping it," Manjhi reacted to the RSS chief 's remark. He also advocated for continuation of the reservation policy to change the economic condition of people concerned. The RSS chief 's remarks come at a time when the BJP is trying hard to woo pro-Mandal forces and Dalits in Bihar.
