BJP displays 'proof' of Amar Singh-Sanjiv Saxena link

Presenting another document to "prove" that Sanjiv Saxena, who delivered the cash to three BJP MPs in the cash-for-vote scam, indeed worked for SP General Secretary Amar Singh.

NEW DELHI: Presenting another document to "prove" that Sanjiv Saxena, who delivered the cash to three BJP MPs in the cash-for-vote scam, indeed worked for SP General Secretary Amar Singh, the BJP today alleged that Saxena had "mislead" the parliamentary committee probing the case and demanded Saxena's punishment.

BJP distributed to reporters copies of a letter written by Amar Singh on his official notepad which lobbies for admission of Sanjiv Saxena's son in a degree college here.

The letter, dated June 2, 2008 and reportedly signed by Amar Singh, reads, "Placed along with my letter a request from Sanjiv Saxena, my secretary, seeking admission for his son."

BJP alleged that Saxena had "mislead" the seven-member parliamentary committee during his deposition when he reportedly stated that he "casually" worked for Amar Singh.

"This is a patent falsehood indulged in by Sanjiv Saxena in front of the Committee. We expect the Committee to take this matter into cognisance," BJP spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad told reporters.

Three members of the committee Mohammad Salim of CPI(M), V K Malhotra of BJP and Rajesh Verma of BSP had suggested after Saxena's submissions that since there were certain discrepancies in his statements he should undergo a narco-analysis test to bring out the truth.

The BJP today demanded that Amar Singh should also be summoned immediately by the Committee. "The investigation cannot be completed without the examination of Amar Singh by the committee as all these activities took place around him," another BJP spokesperson, Prakash Javadekar, said.

Amar Singh had earlier stated that Sanjiv Saxena worked for Shahid Siddiqui then with Samajwadi Party who shifted to BSP on July 20. Singh said Saxena left his service on the same day and went with Siddiqui.
