JAIPUR: Rajasthan BJP today disbanded its Barmer unit with immediate effect.

The disbanding comes after reviewing of party activities after the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections, party statement said.

BJP state president Ashok Parnami ordered the disbanding of the unit. A new unit will be announced after discussions with the party workers and elected representatives, the statement said.

After being denied ticket, party rebel Jaswant Singh had contested the Lok Sabha elections as an Independent and lost to BJP's Col Sona Ram.

Jaswant was expelled from the party while his MLA son Manvendra was suspended from party's membership.
