BJP depending upon import of leaders from other parties in Assam: Tarun Gogoi

GUWAHATI: With influx of leaders from different political parties to BJP continues, Assam chief minister, Tarun Gogoi on Monday said that BJP in Assam does not have leaders and depends upon the leaders from other parties.

Gogoi on Monday said BJP in Assam does not have leaders. They are depending on leaders from Congress, Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) and even former militants. “They (BJP) don’t have state leader and the only leader they have here is BJP’s secretary in charge of Assam, Mahendra Singh.”

Nine congress MLAs who are close to former minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma will soon join BJP. Sarma himself joined the Saffron party in August this year.
Recently AGP leader Padma Hazarika joined BJP. Several leaders of student bodies have joined BJP. BJP has claimed that more congress leaders have expressed their willingness to join the party.

Attacking chief of All India United Democratic Front ( AIUDF) Badruddin Ajmal, Gogoi said that he is ready to give Ajmal befitting reply in the 2016 assembly polls.
Ajmal said that Gogoi has aged. Octogenarian Gogoi said, “I have aged no doubt but I still can give befitting reply to Ajmal. He has fought electoral battles against me in past and lost and I will defeat him in future.”

Recently both Ajmal and Gogoi had two meeting which was viewed in political circles seriously. There was speculation of growing bonhomie and new equations for the next year’s polls.
