BJP demands sacking of Delhi minister indicted by Lokayukta

The Lokayukta recently recommended removal of Chauhan from the the council of ministers for allegedly trying to influence a team of sales tax officers.

NEW DELHI: BJP today staged a rally here demanding dismissal of Delhi minister Raj Kumar Chauhan, who was indicted by Lokayukta for allegedly trying to influence a team of sales tax officers examining a case of tax evasion.

"In spite of the orders of Lokayukta, the Chief Minister has not dismissed Chauhan and no criminal case has been filed against him because the Delhi Government is itself involved in corruption," a release quoting state BJP chief Vijender Gupta said.

The Lokayukta recently recommended removal of Chauhan from the the council of ministers for allegedly trying to influence a team of sales tax officers --- which was examining a case of possible tax evasion at a resort in south Delhi.

The BJP at a rally at Khajoori Chowk here demanded immediate dismissal of Chauhan and initiation of criminal proceedings against him.

Besides Gupta, former Chief Minister of Uttarakhand Bhagat Singh Koshiyari and other leaders participated in the rally.

The party also condemned use of force against its workers during a protest march.
