MUMBAI: The BJP demanded removal of the Omar Abdullah-led government in Jammu and Kashmir, holding its responsible for the unrest in the valley.

"The Abdullah-led Government in Kashmir has failed to bring peace in the state and therefore it has to be removed," BJP general secretary Ananth Kumar said here.

The armed forces' presence should be increased in the militancy-hit state in the backdrop of violent incidents in which many innocent people have been killed, he said.

The UPA government's "wrong policies" have resulted in growing demand for greater autonomy and separatist tendencies in the sensitive state, the BJP leader said.

Kumar was in town to attend a two-day training programme for Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha's (BJYM) National Executive members in Uttan near suburban Bhayander.

The BJYM would be organising a campaign 'India First' highlighting various facets of the Kashmir issue, its president Anurag Thakur said.
