BJP demands Maharashtra CM Ashok Chavan's resignation
BJP today demanded that Maharashtra Chief Minister Ashok Chavan resign immediately owning moral responsibility for alleged irregularities in allotment of flats in Adarsh Housing Cooperative Society in Mumbai.
"It is shameful and shocking to know that premises made for war widows is being exploited and used like this duing his leadership ... I leave it to the sense propriety and conscience of the chief minister for a decision," BJP spokesperson Ravishankar Prasad told reporters here.
"It is also shocking to know from reports that Chavan's mother-in-law too is a beneficiary of the allotment made throwing all the norms to the wind," he said.
Several former service chiefs, politicians and bureaucrats were allegedly given flats at throwaway prices on the prime 6,490-sq mt plot of land in upscale Colaba.
