BJP demands increase of wages to SPOs and VDCs to Rs 10,000

JP today demanded that wages of Special Police officers and Village Defence Committees be enhanced to Rs 10,000 per month.

JAMMU: BJP today demanded that wages of Special Police officers (SPOs) and Village Defence Committees (VDCs) be enhanced to Rs 10,000 per month.

"Wages of VDCs and SPOs should be enhanced to Rs 10,000 per month," BJP general secretary (organisation) Ashok Koul said after presiding over by a district working committee meeting of the party's Kishtwar unit.

SPOs are currently getting Rs 5,000 as wages and village defence committees are also paid the same amount for distribution among its members.

Taking a dig on the state government over PoK militants' return and rehabilitation policy, Koul said a serious note was taken on infiltration bids in recent times, "which is now spreading through the Kathmandu (Nepal) route".

There is deep resentment on plans to revoke AFSPA, he said adding, BJP demands that the present rehabilitation policy be taken back.
