BJP demands discussion on Mamata's statement on Naxals

The party has given notice in both Houses of Parliament for suspension of Question Hour

NEW DELHI: BJP has given notice in both Houses of Parliament for suspension of Question Hour and demanded a discussion on Trinamool Congress chief and union Minister Mamata Banerjee's statement on Maoists at her Lalgarh rally.

"The BJP Parliamentary Party discussed the issue and decided that a notice be given for suspension of Question Hour today in both Houses to hold a discussion on how a union minister was supporting Maoists," Deputy Leader of BJP in Rajya Sabha S S Ahluwalia said.

According to party sources, BJP MPs expressed strong reservations about how the Railway Minister had questioned the encounter of Maoist leader Azad.

"I was indeed sad when Azad was killed," Banerjee had said at the rally.

BJP has been vocal about growing Naxal violence in the country and accused the UPA government of failing in matters of internal security.
