The BJP delegation will include party president Rajnath Singh and senior leaders like LK Advani. The party will register its protest on the issue of “state-sponsored terrorism and hooliganism” of the DMK government in Tamil Nadu. It will also ask the President to ensure that the government shows adequate caution in view of the state-wide band called by Tamil Nadu chief minister M Karunanidhi on October 1.
The DMK supremo has announced that the state will observe a day of bandh to demonstrate to the Centre that people wanted speedy implementation of the Sethusamudram project. The decision of a bandh on October 1 was announced on Monday.
The BJP will also raise the issue of the attack by DMK supporters on its offices in Chennai. Senior DMK leaders and ministers in the state government were allegedly involved in the attack on Sunday.
It is not clear whether the BJP, which has earlier called for the dismissal of the DMK government in Tamil Nadu, will make the same plea to the President.
Additionally, the Delhi unit of the BJP will undertake a dharna at Rajghat on Thursday to protest Mr Karunanidhi’s consistently derogatory statement about Lord Ram, the attack on the BJP office in his state and the attendant "state-sponsored terrorism". A meeting of all party office bearers in Delhi on the issue will also be held on Thursday.
