BJP completing Ambedkar’s mission, workers to tell target voters in UP

NEW DELHI: ‘Baba Ji Ka Mission Adhura, BJP Kar Rahi Hai Pura’ (Ambedkar’s mission is incomplete, BJP is completing it) – the BJP has coined this slogan for Ambedkar Jayanti celebrations in Uttar Pradesh, and added a ‘Ambedkar Mission Padyatra’ on April 13 to its mega plans.

BJP workers across the state will implore Dalits and people from backward communities in every district of the state to join the march on the eve of Ambedkar Jayanti. The march will end at an Ambedkar statue where the participants will take a pledge saying ‘Hum BJP ke, BJP hamari’ (we are of the BJP, BJP is ours), Kaushal Kishore, Lok Sabha member from Mohanlalganj and head of the UP BJP’s SC/ST Manch, told ET.

Kishore said the party would impress upon Dalits during the foot march that it is the BJP which has done the most for them and that “it is the BJP which is completing what was the mission of Bhim Rao Ambedkar, Ram Manohar Lohia and Pandit Deendayal Upadhayaya”.


This is a conscious effort by the party to project the ideological stalwarts of both of its regional rivals, the Bahujan Samaj Party and the Samajwadi Party, at the same political platform to appeal to the backward communities. Kishore said the party would tell Dalits that the mission of these stalwarts was social progress of the backward communities through development, something which the BJP was doing by providing them electricity under Ujjwala and Saubhagya schemes among others.
