BJP Central leadership looking into the issue of BJP-AIADMK separation
After the AIADMK's exit from the NDA, the BJP Central leadership is addressing the issue of the alliance breakup. They are analyzing the incidents that led to the separation and will take appropriate action. The Tamil Nadu BJP leaders have stated ...
The leadership has unveiled the formula and intends to implement suitable measures accordingly. Party sources also revealed that the party has initiated a process to assess the events that resulted in the separation of allies.
Earlier, Tamil Nadu BJP leaders told ANI, "The problem would be handled by our high leadership, so we'll see what happens."
"I will speak on this issue later," said Tamil Nadu BJP president K Annamalai.
The decision to depart from the NDA was made during a significant gathering led by party leader K Palaniswami at the AIADMK headquarters.
It came after a series of events that have unfolded over the past year, starting in June 2022 when veteran AIADMK leader C Ponnaiyan expressed concerns that the BJP was attempting to expand its presence in Tamil Nadu at the expense of the AIADMK. Subsequent incidents, such as the installation of banners during the Erode bypoll in February 2023, where the AIADMK referred to its coalition as the 'AIADMK alliance' rather than the 'National Democratic Alliance,' further highlighted the strain in the relationship.
Tensions escalated in March 2023 when C T R Nirmal Kumar, a BJP IT wing functionary, joined the AIADMK, leading to public clashes between the two parties. Annamalai's controversial statement claiming that his wife was "100% more powerful than Jayalalithaa" sparked outrage from the AIADMK.
"Eight months are left and what will happen in these months, we can't say anything today. To make the party strong is the duty of every worker. Under the leadership of K Annamalai a great work of strengthening the party is being done," BJP leader CT Ravi told earlier.
On Monday, AIADMK announced separation from the NDA, accusing the BJP's state leadership of not showing respect to its senior leaders.
The party also announced that it will be contesting the 2024 election with its other allies.
