The BJP is yet to announce the first list of candidates for Telangana and Mizoram, although it has announced candidates for 85 seats of Chhattisgarh, 136 candidates for Madhya Pradesh and 41 candidates for Rajasthan.
The CEC will discuss candidates for Telangana and Mizoram on Tuesday.
"We will declare candidates for Telangana very soon. Our election campaign is already going on. We will complete assembly-wise public meetings across the state by October 17," Tarun Chug, BJP general secretary in-charge of Telangana, told ET.
The Congress and BRS both have announced a significant number of candidates for Telangana, where voting will take place on November 30.
The two parties have also launched their manifesto, with the Congress also announcing its promises if it comes to power.
"We are not into the business of making false promises. We have a track record of delivery under PM Modi. We will launch our manifesto at the right time," said Chug.
On October 19, the CEC will discuss the names for the remaining seats of Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh. The candidates for the remaining five seats of Chhattisgarh have been finalised. To announce the candidates for the remaining seats of Madhya Pradesh is a challenging task since the party is mulling over dropping several sitting MLAs.
In Rajasthan, the BJP has fielded seven party MPs in the assembly election and the number could increase as the party discusses candidates for the remaining 159 seats, said people in the know.
