BJP candidate Ram Kadam gets interim protection from arrest

Meanwhile, Kadam's lawyer advocate Vinod Chate told PTI that he was likely to move the Bombay High Court seeking quashing of the FIR.

MUMBAI: The sessions court today granted interim protection from arrest to Ram Kadam, sitting MLA and BJP's candidate from Ghatkopar here in Maharashtra assembly elections, in a case of alleged cheating and violation of poll code.

"The sessions court has granted interim protection to Kadam in a case registered against him under the Indian Penal Code and the Representation of People Act," said chief public prosecutor Kalpana Chavan.

The case was registered against Kadam after he held a campaign meeting without permission.

Kadam has filed an application for anticipatory bail which will come up for hearing next month.

Meanwhile, Kadam's lawyer advocate Vinod Chate told PTI that he was likely to move the Bombay High Court seeking quashing of the FIR.
