BJP candidate R Nandakumar complains of poll irregularities by ruling party
BJP mayoral candidate R Nandakumar lodged a complaint with the Collector, seeking cancellation of the elections, alleging irregularities.

In his complaint to Collector Archana Patnaik, he alleged that ruling party members were distributing money to voters and intimitdating rival party workers. No action has been taken so far despite complaints.
Considering the irregularities and also poll code violations, it would be better to cancel the elections, to uphold democracy, Nandakumar said.
Yesterday, Minister of State for Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises, Pon Radhakrishnan had sought cancellation of civic bypolls,alleging that the ruling AIADMK was indulging in distributing money and also misusing official power.
CPI(M) has already lodged a complaint with the Collector on code violation, stating that large numbers of banners, party flags and cutouts were erected illegally, as part of the visit of AIADMK general secretary and Chief Minister, Jayalalithaa here this evening.
They also expressed apprehension of threat of booth capturing by AIADMK on polling day on September 18.
