BJP candidate of Pathankot Municipal Corporation dies

Returning Officer Naresh Mahajan today said he had informed about the death of the candidate to the State Election Commission.

PATHANKOT: The BJP candidate from Pathankot Municipal Corporation died here, following a cardiac arrest, her family said today.

60-year-old Shashi Kala, who was contesting the upcoming civic bodies polls from ward number 30 of Pathankot Municipal corporation on a BJP ticket, died late last evening when she was on her way to home following election campaigning.

Returning Officer Naresh Mahajan today said he had informed about the death of the candidate to the State Election Commission.

Elections to six municipal corporations and 122 municipal councils and nagar panchayats in Punjab are scheduled for February 22 and 25.
