The BJP seems unperturbed by the upcoming meeting of all the anti-BJP parties in Patna to discuss a joint alliance against the party on Friday, calling the gathering an attempt by parties who "will agree to disagree".

"Earlier, it was 'Tukde Tukde Gang'. Now, it has become 'Bikhre Bikhre Gang'," BJP spokesperson Sanjay Mayukh told ET. "Even before the meeting happened, the parties are on the verge of breaking away. It is better for Nitish Kumar to hold his own alliance in Bihar together as some allies have already moved away from him."

The BJP is banking strongly on PM Modi's image and it believes that, under his leadership, the party is far ahead of any possible united opposition. "Under his (Modi's) leadership, the world is looking at India as a new destination of opportunities. The people of this country will support the leadership of PM Modi once again in large numbers like in 2019," Mayukh added.

In the past few weeks, the BJP has also been working to add new allies into the NDA fold from Bihar, UP, Punjab, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, among other states, in the hope of adding more vote share to the party. Union home minister Amit Shah is leading the mission. On Wednesday, Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) leader Jitan Ram Manjhi met Shah and announced his decision to join the NDA for the upcoming polls. Former JDU leader Upendra Kushwaha has already formed his new party and met Shah to join the NDA. Mukesh Sahni of the VIP is also in talks with the BJP to join the NDA.

In UP, the talks with Suheldev Bhartiya Samaj Party (SBSP) leader Om Prakash Rajbhar has been going on for a long time. Recently, during his son's marriage function, the entire UP BJP leadership including, CM Yogi Adityanath, marked their attendance signalling that SBSP may contest in alliance with the BJP.
