The BJP unit burnt the effigy of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi on Saturday to protest against the increase in petrol and diesel prices.

VARANASI: The BJP unit burnt the effigy of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi on Saturday to protest against the increase in petrol and diesel prices.

Demanding an immediate withdrawal of the price hike, BJP leaders and workers led by former UP finance minister Harish Chandra Srivastava shouted slogans against the Congress party.

The BJP protested against the price hike in Azamgarh, Ballia, Jaunpur, Mirzapur, Chandauli, Mau and other parts of eastern Uttar Pradesh.
