New Delhi: BJP and BSP members today clashed in the Rajya Sabha over the killing of ten people in Maharajganj in Uttar Pradesh, leading to a brief adjournment of the House.

As soon as Prabhat Jha (BJP) started narrating the incident in which ten people were burnt to death, BSP members were on their feet objecting to the BJP raising the issue.

Jha said the law and order issue in the BSP-ruled Uttar Pradesh was getting worse.

BSP members took strong objection to the remark and said it was a state matter and the UP government has already initiated action in it. Moreover, the matter was sub-judice, they said.

Deputy Chairman K Rahman Khan said that Jha's notice for Zero Hour mention was admitted by the Chairman and asked as to what was wrong if the member wanted to speak on the incident.

As noisy scenes prevailed, the House was adjourned for 10 minutes.
