JAMMU: The nationwide bandh called by the BJP to protest against price rise evoked a mixed response in Jammu division on Friday.

Shops, commercial establishments and markets remained closed in most parts of the city and its suburbs in response to the bandh, which was also supported by the local unit of Shiv Sena.

However, vehicular movement was unaffected in the city, official sources said adding the bandh did not affect the attendance of employees in government offices, banks and other public sector undertakings.

Some BJP activists were seen trying to force closure of shops in some city areas in the morning, they said.

Reports said that shops and markets also remained closed in Kathua, Reasi and Udhampur towns of the division.

There was no response to the bandh called in Rajouri, Poonch and Doda districts.
