Mayawati using dalit card to defend corruption: BJP

NEW DELHI: In a sharp reaction to Mayawati’s outburst that the BJP is targeting her as she is a Dalit, BJP said she should not play a Dalit victim card for defending her “personal corruption”.

Mayawati had attacked PM and BJP Chief Amit Shah, calling them “anti-Dalit” and holding them responsible for the ED inquiry into some conspicuous deposits in the bank account of her brother Anand postdemonetisation.

“Mayawati has levelled some highly baseless allegations against the PM and the BJP President. We condemn these remarks with all contempt."

Why is she so rattled at a routine enquiry by ED? Will her personal corruption be hidden behind the Dalit card?” Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said.
