BJP at Centre for six more months, Lok Sabha polls in Feb-Mar 2024: Mamata Banerjee

Lashing out at the BJP at a public rally in Jalpaiguri district on Tuesday, Banerjee said the “BJP will stay in power at the Centre for only the next six months. The party will be completely removed from power in 2024.” Banerjee was on a North Bengal tour for the panchayat poll campaign. Banerjee said the panchayat polls would be conducted in a peaceful manner and people will cast their votes in the three-tier rural polls. “Many people in Cooch Behar have died due to indiscriminate firing by BSF personnel. However, all BSF personnel are not bad,” she clarified.
“PM Modi is in power today but will not remain so forever. It is they (BSF) who will protect our country and our borders,” Banerjee said, urging the BSF to work independently, without fear.
Meanwhile, a Trinamool Congress worker was shot dead and six others were injured on Tuesday morning in a clash in Cooch Behar district’s Dinhata, with panchayat polls scheduled on July 8. However, Banerjee claimed that some Bangladeshi miscreants have killed them. “We will take action against them. Some Bangladeshi miscreants were behind the incident,” Banerjee said.
