KOLKATA: West Bengal BJP today asked the Congress leadership to explain why party leader Kapil Sibal was defending Trinamool Congress in the Saradha case.

The party's national secretary, Siddharth Nath Singh, asked Congress president Sonia Gandhi and vice-president Rahul Gandhi to answer why Kapil Sibal was fighting on behalf of TMC in Supreme Court in the multi-crore Saradha chit fund scandal.

Singh was speaking during inaugration of the party's legal cell office in Kolkata.

"The legal cell is a nail in TMC's coffin. They are trying to vitiate the atmosphere of the state. Our aim is to remove this anti-people TMC government from the state," Singh said.

He also criticised TMC general secretary Mukul Roy's failure to appear before the CBI today, saying the day TMC leaders would stop playing hide and seek with the CBI, he too would stop saying "Bhag Mukul Bhag".

"I had said that it would be Bhag Mukul Bhag in 2015. Now we all are seeing who is trying to evade CBI and is running around," he told reporters.
