BJP Arunachal Pradesh unit president Tapir Gao detained with cash

Gao protested that he was a tribal and was not supposed to pay income tax. Therefore, he said it was irrelevant if he had been carrying cash or not.

GUWAHATI: President of Arunachal Pradesh unit of BJP, Tapir Gao is caught in cash row. Gao said that there is a conspiracy against him.

Sleuths of Income tax department on Tuesday stooped Gao in Guwahati airport while he was coming from poll bound Manipur. Gao told ET, “I had some cash with me. I asked the officials as to why they are questioning me here in Guwahati while election is in Manipur.”

He added, “I have showed requisite papers for I am being tribal exempted from income tax payment. I believe behind this incident there is some political conspiracy.”
