New Delhi: A day after party veteran and former Himachal Pradesh chief minister Shanta Kumar aired his controversial views on allegations against its leaders, a concerned BJP appointed Union minister Jagat Prakash Nadda to placate the senior leader as part of its damagecontrol exercise while dismissing formally his remarks as those influenced by the propaganda of the Congress.

Criticism from within its ranks- be it senior leaders like LK Advani, Murli Manohar Joshi and Shanta Kumar or MPs like Bharat Singh — have become a concern for the BJP brass in the last few months. Kumar’s July 10 letter to BJP chief Amit Shah stating that the Vyapam scam has made party members hang their heads in shame saw union ministers attacking him.
