BJP appoints Bhabesh Kalita and Adhikarimayum Sharda Devi as party presidents of Assam and Manipur

BJP has appointed Bhabesh Kalita as party president of Assam and Adhikarimayum Sharda Devi as the party president of Manipur.

These appointments were necessitated as state unit chief of Assam Ranjit Kumar Dass was inducted into the Council of ministers in Assam after recently held assembly polls. The post of BJP Manipur Pradesh president has been vacant after the death of former president S Tikendra Singh. He died of COVID-19 complications.

Kalita is MLA from Rangia and has been associated with BJP’s ideological mentor, Rastriya Sayamsevak Sangh (RSS). Kalita was minister of state for education in the earlier BJP led government.

BJP’s national president Jagat Prakash Nadda has appointed Sharda Devi as the new president of Manipur BJP with immediate effect.

Manipur Chief Minister, N Biren Singh tweeted,"Felicitated our newly appointed BJP Manipur President at my office. The appointment of Smt Sharda Devi Ji as President of @BJP4Manipur has yet again reaffirmed BJP’s commitment to empowering women & acknowledging the talent of individuals irrespective of their gender or background”.

BJP national spokesperson Sambit Patra, who is also in charge of Manipur tweeted, “Congratulations to Smt Sharda Devi ji for being appointed as the President of @BJP4Manipur Pradesh.
