Despite supporting the no-confidence motion against the NDA government, BJP ally, Mizo National Front, did not walk out with the Opposition but backed the motion in the Lok Sabha.

Upset over the way BJP-led government in Manipur handled the ethnic violence, MNF had announced to vote against the government on the motion.

"My party and I will vote in favour of the no-confidence motion because our brothers and sisters are suffering in Manipur and there is no control out there. There is complete failure of government machinery and the government is not listening to us," MNF's lone Lok Sabha MP C Lalrosanga told ET in the morning.

When contacted after the motion was defeated, Lalrosanga said he "backed the motion against the government but did not walk out with Opposition as MNF wasn't with Opposition".

Lalrosanga said Manipur CM N Biren Singh should be sacked and President's rule imposed in the state.

MNF's Rajya Sabha MP K Vanlalvena said the situation in Manipur and the treatment meted to the Kukis has deeply hurt the whole of Mizoram.
