BJP-AAP deal for Delhi and Gujarat, says Shiv Sena's Sanjay Raut

Raut said the Gujarat elections could have been a much closer fight had parties like AAP joined forces with the Congress to fight the BJP. Raut said the results in Himachal Pradesh leaves hope for non-BJP parties in future.

The Shiv Sena has attributed the BJP's win in the Gujarat assembly polls on Thursday to an 'arrangement' between the BJP and the AAP. Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut, reacting to the BJP's win in Gujarat, said that there was a talk among people that this could be a quid pro quo arrangement between the BJP and AAP.

"There are doubts being expressed among people that one (BJP) could have said that you (AAP) keep Delhi (Municipal Corporation elections) while we keep Gujarat," said Raut on Thursday questioning the BJP win in Gujarat. Raut said the Gujarat elections could have been a much closer fight had parties like AAP joined forces with the Congress to fight the BJP. Raut said the results in Himachal Pradesh leaves hope for non-BJP parties in future. Shiv Sena president Uddhav Thackeray congratulated PM Narendra Modi for the Gujarat win but added that the win was due to the BJP taking away industries (like Foxconn and Tata Airbus) to Gujarat.
