BJD opposes Uttarakhand President's rule in Lok Sabha
Naveen Patnaik-led BJD has stepped out from other regional parties to register its strong objections to the imposition of President’s rule in Uttarakhand.

BJD Lok Sabha member Kalikesh N Singh Deo has moved a statutory resolution against the budget for Uttarakhand for 2016-17. It is listed to be taken for discussion together with the budget on Monday. As the Uttarakhand assembly is scheduled to have a floor test on Tuesday, there is no need to consider the state budget by the Lok Sabha on Monday, Singh Deo told ET.
“There would be a government after the floor test and it can bring the budget for the state.” The resolution is a tool available to political parties to counter government’s legislative moves on substantive grounds. That a member of BJD, a political rival of the Congress in Odisha, has moved this resolution for Uttarakhand where the regional party has no stake is a signal of its objection to imposition of President’s rule.
“Most regional parties will not agree with the President’s rule because it has been misused and abused,” Singh Deo told ET, adding, “I haven’t been able to speak to the leaders of regional parties. But, I hope there will be some conversation when we assemble tomorrow.” “President’s rule is unfair, biased and unconstitutional”, in general, and “it has no place in India”, he said.
