Birender Singh controversy: INLD asks Congress to clarify position
CHANDIGARH: With senior Congress leader Birender Singh kicking up a controversy with his claim that there are people who shell out upto Rs 100 crore to get a Rajya Sabha seat, Haryana's main opposition party INLD today asked Congress to clarify its stand on it.

INLD leader and MLA from Ellenabad, Abhay Singh Chautala said, "From Birender Singh's statement, allegations made by INLD on Congress are now proved beyond doubt that the party sells its posts."

"What Birender Singh has said is serious...Congress must make it clear to people about it," Chautala said in a release issued by the party here.

"Congress high command should explain how many MPs have paid for their seats," he said.

Birender Singh was AICC general secretary in-charge of Himachal Pradesh but was dropped in the recent AICC reshuffle.

A former Haryana finance minister, Birender Singh had lost to INLD president and former Chief Minister Om Prakash Chautala by a narrow margin from Uchana Kalan constituency in Jind district in the last Assembly elections.
