Bird hit delays Jet flight at Indore airport; passengers safe

A bird from a grassland near the runway hit the plane wing during take-off at 0715 hours and delayed it for 90 mins.

INDORE: A Delhi-bound Jet airways flight today suffered a bird hit at the airport here, resulting in a delay of more than a hour, officials said.

The incident took place around 0715 hours during the take-off when a bird from a grassland near the runway, hit the plane wing, forcing a delay of 90 minutes, Airport Authority Officer R N Shinde said.

Following the bird strike, a special inspection of the aircraft was immediately carried out. There was no damage to the plane wing and all passengers were safe, officials said.

The flight finally took off around 9 AM. The number of passengers on the flight was not immediately known.
