Bird flu spreads to Tripura

Bird flu has spread to Tripura from neighbouring West Bengal with samples of dead fowl from Dhalai district testing positive for the virus on Monday.

AGARTALA: Bird flu has spread to Tripura from neighbouring West Bengal with samples of dead fowl from Dhalai district testing positive for the virus on Monday.

Official sources said samples from Mohanpur gram panchayat area, bordering Bangladesh, in Kamalpur subdivision of Dhalai district tested positive at the Animal Disease Laboratory in Bhopal.

At least 5,000 fowl died in the area in past one week prompting the authorities send the samples to the Bhopal laboratory.
