JAMMU: Use of biometric attendance system (BAS) in all government offices would be mandatory by March 31 in Jammu and Kashmir to ensure punctuality, accountability and transparency.

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Secretary B R Sharma, in a meeting with administrative Secretaries, reviewed the progress with respect to installation and use of BAS, an official spokesperson said.

All employees will soon be marking their attendance on the Aadhaar Enabled Biometric Attendance System (AEBAS), he said.

The Chief Secretary stressed on expeditious completion of the entire process and asked the officers to submit a status report by March 24.

Sharma asked the secretaries concerned to ensure installation of BAS in their respective subordinate offices within the set deadline too.

The State Administrative Council (SAC) had decided in February this year that all government offices should have AEBAS in position by March 31.
