Bina Ramani arrested in Goa

PANAJI: Socialite Bina Ramani, a key witness in model Jessica Lall’s murder case, was arrested in Goa on Wednesday, two days after a Delhi court issued a non-bailable warrant against her in a cheating case.

Ms Ramani was arrested from a restaurant owned by her in Candolim, near from Panaji, by a special investigation team of Delhi police and Goa police, senior police officials said. She will be taken to Delhi on Thursday, they said.

The warrant against Ms Ramani was issued in a case of cheating and forgery for acquiring a licence to run a restaurant in south Delhi where the ramp model was shot dead.

Police alleged Ms Ramani obtained the licence misrepresenting that she was the owner of the restaurant, Qutub Colonade on the basis of forged documents and served liquor without a valid licence.
