Bimal Gurung threatens to revive Gorkhaland movement again
KOLKATA: Threatening Gorkhaland stir yet again, GJM president and GTA chief executive Bimal Gurung today said that there was no meeting between West Bengal government and the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha. Adding that his party would talk to the centre demanding 'Gorkhaland', Gurung said that Bengal government never 'cooperated' with the GTA that resulted in a total 'collapse' of system.

"We have no point left to discuss with the state government. It has been three years since the GTA was formed. But we did not get any cooperation from Bengal government. We would now only talk to centre and discuss Gorkhaland issue," Gurung told the media persons.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is at present in Darjeeling on a three day administrative trip. Banerjee yesterday laid down the foundation stone for a Himalayan centre of Presidency University in Kurseong. None of the GJM leaders were present in the programme.

Reacting to Gurung's threat, Banerjee said, "We would not allow Hills to be separated from Bengal. I am ready to sacrifice my life, but not Darjeeling."

She further added, “I have not come here to do politics. The people of the Hills are so simple and warm. They always give me love.Till I am alive I will work for the development of the Hills,” The CM also stated that soon a Medical College would come up in Kurseong.

She is expected to attend a programme organised by the Tamang Development Board at Dr Graham’s Homes, Kalimpong later today. On September 16, the Chief Minister is expected to attend a programme hosted by the Lepcha Development Board at the Kalimpong Mela Ground.
