Bimal Gurung re-surfaces, says Gorkhaland movement will continue
KOLKATA: After almost seven days since the police raid at his residence and operational head quarter at Patlebas on June 15, Gorkha Janmukti Morcha chief Bimal Gurung re-surfaced today. Wearing a battle fatigue, Gurung told reporters at his residence that the movement for Gorkhaland would continue till he dies. Announcing the mass resignation of 43 members of Gorkhaland Territorial Administration, Gurung said that GJM would burn the GTA accord in Delhi on June 27.

The leader demanded a CBI inquiry into the death of three GJM cadres on June 17 at Singhmari. Significantly, police filed murder cases against him and other leaders of the party in the case. He further added that police could come and raid his house again. This time, he would be there. “On June 15, police illegally raided my house. They had no search warrant. But, now they can again come. I am here,” he said.

Reiterating their stand on Gorkhaland, Gurung said, "A delegation would be heading to Delhi and initiate talks with centre. However, I would go to Delhi only when there would be a discussion on Gorkhaland."

About the strike, he said that indefinite strike would continue. All-party meeting is however postponed to June 29. The GJM has offered a 12-hour "window" to the schools in the Darjeeling hills to evacuate their students safely to Siliguri and Rongpo.
