As per the existing law, the Panchayat can clear plans for two storied houses, the Panchayat Samiti can clear plans for three storied houses.

KOLKATA: Rural building plans would not have to wait for sanctions for long periods from Panchayats, Panchayat Samitis or Zilla Parishads, the West Bengal government is coming up with a bill that would facilitate clearing of building plans for projects directly by the state government.

The State Rural Development Minister Subrata Mukherjee assured that if the local rural bodies create unnecessary delay on sanctioning building plans, the Panchayat Department will directly take action.

"A Bill is being brought in the Assembly for legislation of the same," he said.

As per the existing law, the Panchayat can clear plans for two storied houses, the Panchayat Samiti can clear plans for three storied houses and anything beyond that can be cleared by the Zilla Parishad.
