Bill on reorganisation of districts introduced

Chief Minister Nabam Tuki introduced Arunachal Pradesh Re-Organisation of Districts (Amendment) Bill, 2013 in the state assembly.

ITANAGAR: Chief Minister Nabam Tuki today introduced Arunachal Pradesh Re-Organisation of Districts (Amendment) Bill, 2013 in the state assembly for creation of four new districts in the state.

According to the bill four new districts - Namsai, Kra Daadi, Siang and Lower Siang would be created for better administration.

Namsai district would be carved out of the present Lohit district with its headquarters at Namsai, while Kra Daadi with its proposed headquarters at Jamin would be created by bifurcating Kurung Kumey district.

Siang and Lower Siang districts would be created by taking certain administrative circles from the present East and West Siang districts. The headquarters of Siang district has been proposed at Nyobo while that of Lower Siang is yet to be decided.

Cooperation Minister Jarkar Gamlin introduced The Arunachal Pradesh Cooperative Societies (Amendment) Bill 2013, in the assembly today for consideration and passing.

Discussion on both the bills would be taken tomorrow before passing them through voice votes.
