Bihar’s political parties welcome event; Nitish silent; Tejaswi says ‘vote on real issues’

New Delhi: With assembly elections round the corner, political parties in Bihar treaded cautiously on Wednesday. “On the same day last year, Article 370 and 35 A were withdrawn from Kashmir,” Sanjay Jaiswal, Bihar BJP chief, told ET.

He said the beginning of temple construction is the beginning of a new era in India. “It also proves that BJP does what it promises,” he said. Among the NDA allies in Bihar, LJP was the most vocal in support for the temple construction.

“It’s a great day for people of this country as the dream of construction of a grand temple is getting fulfilled,” said LJP leader Ram Vilas Paswan.


“This day would also pave the way for creation of a society with equal justice.” JDU also welcomed this decision but with caution. “History is taking a turn in Ayodhya after 492 years,” said JDU spokesperson Rajeev Ranjan.

“After the Supreme Court’s decision, there is no scope of politics over the issue.” Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar didn’t comment on the issue. He went on an aerial survey of the flood-affected regions of the state. RJD leaders refrained from making any comment.

RJD’s Tejashwi Yadav appealed to people on social media to vote on real issues. “The day you would rise from caste, religion and vote for social equality, harmony, education and health, your life will be happier,” he wrote on Twitter.

Congress welcomed the construction and its leaders maintained that Lord Ram is for everyone.
