Bihar's journey to development with social justice on
Bihar's journey to development with social justice will continue despite the challenges thrown by natural calamities, Bihar governor R S Gavai said while unfurling the tri-colour on the 59th Republic Day on Saturday.
Unfurling the tricolour at the historic Gandhi Maidan, Gavai said the state government had distributed over one quintal of food grains among the affected during last year's flood and provided cash to compensate for their losses.
The state government, he said, had decided to provide all weather proof houses to five lakh people whose dwellings were washed away during the flood.
Despite battling with floods, the state government took a number of steps for maintaining communal harmony and empowerment of women, dalits and extremely backward communities and strengthening the panchyati raj system.
"Agriculture is the mainstay of improving Bihar's economy and for this the government has made organic fertiliser and seeds tax free. The state government's development plan is aimed at focussing on developing the agriculture sector for which a road map has been evolved", the governor said.
