PATNA: In the first phase, polling in all the 49 constituencies is peaceful with average of about 39 per cent voter turnout by 12 noon on Monday. This phase has covered 49 assembly constituencies spread in the state’s ten districts- Samstipur, Begusarai, Khagariya, Bhagalpur, Banka, Munger, Lakhisarai, Sheikhpura, Nawada and Jamui.

"Barring a few minor incident, there was no report about law and order problem from any of the 49 assembly constituencies. Polling is peaceful," additional chief electoral officer R Lakshamanan told ET over phone.

Jamui district, which is on the map of state’s Left Wing Extremism, registered around 41 per cent polling by 1 am. "Elaborate security arrangements have been made in jamui,"Lakshamanan replied to a query.

In Samstipur, the percentage was about 38 per cent by the same time. By 12 noon, Begusarai, Khagaria, Bhagalpur, Banka, Munger, Lakhsarai, Sheikhpura and Nawada registered around 34 per cent, 30 per cent, 31 per cent, 37 per cent , 32 per cent, 34.76 per cent, 32.47 per cent and 32.20 per cent.
