SARAN: Voters of Chandila village of Maker block in Saran district’s Amnour assembly seat have boycotted the polling on Wednesday in protest against the government’s failure to bring electricity to their village.

“No voter turned up at the booth. We have communicated to the authorities concerned,” election presiding officer Jaffaruddin Ansari told ET at the booth.

This village has total 947 voters, including 417 women.

“We have approached the district administration several times. But we could not get any response. So we boycotted voting,” said a villager, Rajeshwar Mahto.

Circle officer Shivendra Kumar, however, said the authorities had already brought wires and electricity poles to Chandila, but the villagers did not hear the plea of administration to come out and vote.
