PATNA: The Bihar government on Saturday said 10,000 policemen would be recruited in the next five years in the state.

"10,000 policemen would be recruited in the next five years. The department will also be provided with ultra-modern weapons and latest equipment," Chief Minister Nitish Kumar told a function at Gandhi Maidan here.

The government has already taken up several initiatives for modernisation of the force and the police headquarters was asked to draw up a plan, which would be referred to the home department for allotment of necessary funds, he said.

"More police training centres would be set in the state," he said, adding that all-women police stations would be set up in 10 districts.
