Bihar governor accepts Nitish Kumar's resignation

The governor urged Kumar to continue along with his ministerial council till the next ministry is constituted, said an official statement.

PATNA: Bihar Governor D Y Patil today accepted the resignation of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and his cabinet. The Governor urged Kumar to continue along with his ministerial council till the next ministry is constituted, a statement from Raj Bhawan said here this evening.

The CM during the day drove to the Raj Bhawan to hand over the his resignation as also that of his cabinet. Kumar took moral responsibility of the severe drubbing his JD(U) got in the general election where it could win only two of the 40 seats. The CM, however, did not recommend dissolution of the assembly paving way for formation of an alternative government. The tenure of the present government is till November 2015.
