Bihar court extends time for production of Asaram Bapu to November 7

A district court today extended to November 7 the time for production of jailed controversial godman Asaram Bapu before it for his alleged uncharitable remarks on the New Delhi gangrape victim.

MUZAFFARPUR: A district court today extended to November 7 the time for production of jailed controversial godman Asaram Bapu before it for his alleged uncharitable remarks on the New Delhi gangrape victim.

Muzaffarpur Chief Judicial Magistrate S P Singh had on September 21 ordered the Jodhpur jail authorities to produce Asaram before it today.

The CJM extended the time on a submission of the jail officials that they could not comply with the court's order as Asaram had been taken to Ahmedabad on remand in connection with a sexual assault case.

The complaint petition was filed by an advocate, Sudhir Ojha, on January 8 this year against Asaram for his alleged remarks that the victim should have addressed the rapists as brothers to escape the gangrape.
