Bihar Congress leaders target team Rahul Gandhi, demand removal of CP Joshi, Ashok Chowdhary

NEW DELHI: Several Congress leaders from Bihar, including many district Congress committee presidents, reached Delhi on Monday, demanding the high command remove PCC chief Ashok Chowdhary and AICC general secretary in-charge CP Joshi. While Chowdhary is a Rahul Gandhi appointee, Joshi is a key member of Gandhi’s think tank.

The state leaders have also sought an appointment with party chief Sonia Gandhi to present their case against the duo. They have also threatened to stage a dharna at the Congress headquarters to press for their demands. The state Congress leaders are up in arms against Choudhary and Joshi’s style of functioning and allege they take important decisions without consulting colleagues. The rebellious leaders reportedly have the backing of senior Bihar Congress leaders, including Nikhil Kumar, Ram Jatan Sinha, Anil Sharma, etc.

The immediate provocation, the sources within these angry leaders claim, was the recent ‘unilateral decision’ of Choudhary and Joshi to dissolve the state PCC executive. They alleged ever since Joshi took charge as AICC general secretary in-charge of Bihar, he has visited the state on two days.
